Living Healthy & Losing Weight After Pregnancy

Having a baby is one of the most enjoyable and memorable experiences in most mother’s lives. Bringing home that precious little one and beginning the journey of parenthood is a life changing event. Unfortunately, for most new moms, the weight they put on while they were pregnant  is not as enjoyable. Getting back to your original weight after having a baby can be a daunting task for most. We want to help make it as easy as possible.

(Note: These recommendations are NOT directed to women who are still pregnant or nursing.)

Idea #1 – Begin looking at your diet and what your eating habits are. When you were pregnant you may have allowed yourself to eat much more than you should have (let’s be honest here) and didn’t watch what types of food you ate. With the emotions running wild and a husband that wanted to keep you happy (if you are so lucky) this could have easily started forming bad eating habits that are going to keep you overweight.

It’s time to begin to assess your diet and weed out anything you know if contributing to you being overweight. If you’re not sure, simple sugars and most carbs are some of the big culprits. It’s a good idea to pay attention to how your body reacts to certain foods and to read up on healthy eating habits. You can find endless resources online and it’s a good idea to look at well known weight loss advocates for general tips. By changing the way you view and eat food it greatly increases your chances for losing fat and compounds other things you may be doing like working out or taking supplements.

Idea #2 – Supplements and weight loss pills are known to help moms lose their “baby fat”. There are some that obviously don’t work at all and the ones that do work need to be taken as directed. If you are a stay at home mom and get the chance to watch tv shows like ‘Doctors‘ , ‘Oprah’, or ‘Dr Oz‘ then you already have a head start in this area. These shows/hosts discuss weight loss pretty often and usually research what works and what doesn’t. It’s a good idea to learn from them if possible, but you still need to make a wise informed decision.

There were 2 products discussed recently on these types of shows that may be worth looking into. Here’s a brief description of each below:

  • Garcinia Cambogia (HCA) is a fruit that has been used in food for years. It’s known for it’s appetite suppressant and fat blocking properties. The supplement is readily available and is relatively inexpensive. Here are is a place where we found some trials that you can compare to one another: – free trial for garcinia cambogia hca. Be aware that some of these free trials may ‘auto renew’ if you don’t cancel by a certain time. Make sure you are aware of the terms. (Note: the reviews on were not verified for accuracy by us)
  • Raspberry Ketones are a basically the aroma compound taken from red raspberries. It is known for it’s fat burning properties and allows the fat within cells to be broken down more easily by the body to increase fat loss. There are also free trials of raspberry ketones that you may be able to take advantage of, but also please be aware of the terms of these trial offers.

Idea #3 – Begin to jog or walk daily. Taking a few minutes each morning (or night if it works better for you) to get regular exercise will increase the results from the ideas above. Whether it’s jogging or walking we recommend something that will increase the heart rate and allow your body to work off the excess fat it has stored. Having a regular work out routine can do a lot for you mentally as well. Feeling good about yourself and sweating away stress and toxins can be a great side benefit for you and your family.

As much as people usually say they don’t have the time or desire to work out regularly, studies show how people who do typically live happier and healthier lives when it comes to their physical condition and self esteem. These are great things to instill in your new child’s psyche as well so seriously consider it.
